I’m really happy with the amount of art I’ve been creating over the past week. I’ve been working on pencil drawings, collages, acrylic paintings, and also reading books, exploring artist websites, and doing a lot of thinking! I’ve revisited some old ideas and am working to turn them back into habits, and to some extent, I’ve managed to stop procrastinating.

One habit I had for a few months was creating a small painting every day. I’m continuing with that, but I’ve decided to change the pace to six paintings per week instead of one per day. I think this will give me more time to work and hopefully reduce the feeling of being rushed. Approaching the paintings as a series will also give me a chance to observe my marks and design choices more carefully, helping me to see more of me in the work.
My plan is to paint every day or so, but I’ll be working through each painting multiple times. This way, I can refine them over time and hopefully end up with more finished pieces, without feeling like I’m rushing through.
I also plan to share the progress of the series along with a narrative. Below is the first round of this week’s work. Note that #5 and #6 are older cast-offs that I’m reworking as part of this series. The first four paintings were completed yesterday.

Stay tuned and wish me luck!
